Your firm can migrate stored payment methods, including ACH bank accounts and credit cards, from a legacy payment processor to Aiwyn. Because this involves sensitive financial data, all migrations follow a PCI-compliant, encrypted process that meets Nacha and card network compliance requirements.
Full card or bank details are never shared with your firm or Aiwyn staff. Our goal is to ensure client data is protected, the migration is compliant, and clients experience little to no disruption.
What to Know Before You Start
Timing
Payment method migrations typically take two to three weeks from initiation through final import and validation.
Client Records Must Exist in Aiwyn
Payment methods are imported into Stripe (Aiwyn's payment processor) but must be mapped to an existing client record in Aiwyn. The migration process can be initiated before implementation is fully complete. However, payment methods can not be mapped until corresponding client records exist in Aiwyn and are up to date.
This applies to:
- New Aiwyn implementations
- Mergers and acquisitions where newly acquired firm client records must first be migrated into Aiwyn
How to Initiate a Migration
Your Customer Success Manager (CSM) or Implementation Manager will initiate a Data Migration Request on your behalf. Before submission, your firm should be prepared to provide the following:
Primary Firm Contact This person must be able to contact your existing payment processor to request the export file and assist Aiwyn with technical questions during migration.
Payment Method Types Confirm which payment methods you are migrating:
- ACH bank accounts
- Credit cards
- Or both
Estimated Volume

What Is Being Migrated
Depending on your setup, migration may include:
- ACH bank accounts: Used for one-time payments or recurring debits
- Credit cards: Stored cards on file
Apple Pay and Google Pay wallet tokens can not be migrated between processors and are not included.
Important Acknowledgements
Client Email Addresses in Export Files
If client email addresses are included in the migration export file provided by your legacy processor, Aiwyn and Stripe may automatically notify those clients that their payment method has been migrated.
To avoid unintended notifications, we strongly recommend excluding client email addresses from the export file. Other identifiers such as client numbers or customer reference IDs should still be included.
ACH Bank Account Validation
Nacha's WEB Debit Account Validation Rule requires validation of bank accounts used for online ACH debits. All imported ACH bank accounts will undergo a required, one-time validation step performed in the background. No action is required from clients and no disruption will occur.
Credit Cards and Card Account Updater
If migrating stored credit cards, your firm must decide whether to enable Aiwyn and Stripe's Card Account Updater (CAU) service.
- This service is optional.
- A fee may apply, up to approximately $0.50 per updated card.
- If not enabled, expired cards will not be refreshed during migration.
Your CSM or Implementation Manager will confirm this decision prior to submitting the migration request.
Communicating With Your Clients
You own all client-facing communication. Aiwyn and Stripe will not contact your clients directly unless client email addresses are included in the migration file.
We recommend notifying clients that:
- You are upgrading your payment technology to Aiwyn, powered by Stripe.
- Saved payment methods may be securely transferred.
- ACH accounts will undergo a required one-time validation step.
- No action is required and payments will not be disrupted.
Debit Blocks and ACH Positive Pay
Clients using ACH debit blocks or ACH Positive Pay should authorize the following payee IDs with their bank:
- 4270465600 – Stripe Payments Company
- 1800948598 – Stripe Payments Company
This helps prevent declined debits after migration.
