When you remove a contact from a client in your practice management system, Aiwyn does the following.
| Effect | Detail |
|---|---|
| Contact-to-client link | Inactivated. |
| Invoice emails | The contact stops receiving that client's invoices. |
| Statement emails | The contact stops receiving that client's statements. |
| Contact record | Not deleted. The person remains in Aiwyn, without the link to this client. The removed contact no longer appears in the Firm Portal. |
| Existing client portal user | Unchanged. If the contact already has a client portal profile holding this client entity, removing the contact does not remove the entity from their profile. They retain portal access to it. |
When the change takes effect
There is no additional delay in Aiwyn once the removal syncs from your practice management system. For firms using CCH Axcess, data updates once every 4 hours, so the removal takes effect after the next update.
Aiwyn does not notify the firm or create an audit trail when the contact-to-client link is inactivated.
To restore the contact-to-client link
Reactivate the client contact in your practice management system to restore the link in Aiwyn.
To remove portal access as well
Removing the contact is not sufficient. Remove the client entity from the client portal user separately.
