Custom client fields let you tailor client records to capture information your workflows require, ensuring consistent data across all clients in your firm.
Accessing Custom Client Fields
You view and manage custom client fields:
- Navigate to Clients & Contacts from the left-hand menu.
- Ensure the Clients tab is selected.
- Click the Actions menu (three dots) in the top-right corner.
- Select Customize client fields….
- A configuration panel will open showing all available custom client fields.
- Custom client field creations, updates, and deletions affect all client records.
Understanding Custom Client Fields
You can identify how each custom client field is created and managed.
- Aiwyn custom fields are created and managed directly in Aiwyn.
- Synced fields originate from an external system connected to Aiwyn and cannot be managed within Aiwyn.
Reordering Client Fields
You can control the order in which custom client fields appear on client records.
- Open Customize client fields.
- Drag and drop fields using the double-headed arrow on the far left to arrange them in your preferred order.
- Save your changes.
Adding a New Custom Client Field
You can create a new custom field to capture additional client information.
- Open Customize client fields.
- Select Add custom field at the bottom of the panel.
- Enter a key, which serves as a unique and stable system name.
- Enter a display name that clearly identifies the field.
- Enter an optional Description to explain the field’s purpose.
- Select a Type for the field.
- Boolean fields use a yes or no checkbox.
- Integer fields store whole numbers.
- Number fields store numeric values, including decimals.
- String fields store free-form text.
- Save your changes.
Editing an Existing Custom Client Field
You can update details for custom client fields at any time.
- You can update the display name.
- You can modify the description.
Removing a Custom Client Field
You can remove custom client fields that are no longer needed.
- Open Customize client fields.
- Select the minus sign on the field you want to remove.
- Save your changes.
