Find the TCP port your SQL Server listens on, and whether that port is static or dynamic, so you can configure the fixed TCP endpoint Aiwyn will use.
Steps
- Open SQL Server Configuration Manager on the SQL Server.
- Expand SQL Server Network Configuration and select Protocols for your instance.
- Open TCP/IP and go to the IP Addresses tab.
- Read the port values:
- A value in TCP Port is your static port.
1433is the default. - A value in TCP Dynamic Ports means the instance uses a dynamic port, which can change when SQL Server restarts.
- A value in TCP Port is your static port.
Connection details
Use the server/host and port as separate values. The server/host can be an IP address or, for a named instance, a name such as SQLSERVER\INSTANCE. Aiwyn supports named instances when they listen on a static port.
Aiwyn connects to a fixed TCP host and port through the firm's firewall or an SSH tunnel. It does not use SQL Server Browser to discover a dynamic port.
If your port is dynamic
A dynamic port can change when SQL Server restarts, so it cannot be used for Aiwyn's fixed TCP endpoint or a fixed firewall rule. Set a static port before continuing. See Microsoft's official documentation for configuring SQL Server to listen on a specific TCP port.
