Add, change or remove the payment method requirement on a letter you have already sent. This does not put the letter into revision and does not require a resend.
Use it most often when a client has signed but has not provided a payment method, and you need to unblock execution.
Steps
- Go to Engagements and open a letter with status Sent.
- In the Engagement details panel, select the Edit link next to Payment method.
- Choose the new prompt.
- Save.
What happens next
| Change | Result |
|---|---|
| Required or Optional → Not prompted | If all required signatures are complete, the engagement moves straight to Executed. |
| Anything → Optional | The billing contact is notified, but payment setup does not block execution. They may save a payment method, choose Set up later, or skip the payment step. |
| Not prompted or Optional → Required | The billing contact receives an email asking them to provide a payment method. After all signatures are complete, the engagement stays in Sent until the method is saved. |
Saving a payment method and successfully collecting a prepayment are separate events. By default, Aiwyn executes the letter after signatures and any required payment-method setup, then charges the prepayment; a failed charge does not undo execution. If the firm has enable_sync_engagement_prepayment enabled, the letter stays in Sent until Stripe confirms payment. A firm-side Execute action bypasses these payment checks.
